Master Yu, Guizhong also known as “Gaoshan”, was born in 1944, a native of Zhejiang China.

In the 1960s, master Yu became a student of Mr. Zhou Yun, a famous painter master from Zhejiang and a member of the Chinese Artists Association. He studied calligraphy and painting theory and painting skills, and mainly focused on traditional Chinese painting of flowers and birds.

Since the 1970s, mater Yu lived in Shanghai for more than 30 years. He has met famous painters in Shanghai, and has studied at the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. Under the guidance and recommendations of famous masters such as Qian Juntao, Qian Xingjian, Han Ming and Chen Peiqiu, master Yu later entered the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy for further study. Master Yu’s small freehand flower and bird artworks have beautiful layouts, with flowers and birds in both form and spirit. His painting style is fresh and smooth, with vivid charm.

Master Yu’s artworks have been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai, Hubei, Jiangsu, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and other places, and have been collected by calligraphy and painting lovers widely in China and abroad.

In August 2018, master Yu was invited to participate in China Central Television (CCTV) “Beautiful Countryside” calligraphy and painting TV show. His artworks have been highly appreciated by CCTV and many calligraphy and painting fans across the country.
